EduTrust

EduTrust is a quality certification scheme introduced by the Ministry of Education, Singapore as part of the Private Education Act to strengthen the existing registration framework and enforcement provision to regulate the private education sector in Singapore.

The CaseTrust for Education scheme, currently administered by CASE, focuses mainly on protection of fees paid by students. EduTrust will introduce new requirements over and above those required under CaseTrust, including minimum standards of academic processes. After EduTrust is implemented, CASE will cease to offer CaseTrust for Education.

City of Manchester School of Management is in the process of preparing for the new quality certification scheme and hopes to be one of the schools to be EduTrust certified.

CaseTrust for education

The CaseTrust for Education scheme launched on 9 September 2004 serves to boost Singapore's reputation as a trusted education hub and to make Singapore a Global Schoolhouse. The aim of the scheme is to enhance the confidence of international students in the quality of education in Singapore.

A Private Education Institution (PEI) that achieves the CaseTrust for Education mark is certified to have adopted good practices and standards for student protection and welfare including having clear fee policies, well-defined student redress procedures and disclosure of commitment to quality in the provision of teaching facilities and well-trained support personnel.

Student protection scheme

As part of the implementation of the full requirements of CaseTrust for Education, the PEI must provide a Student Protection Scheme (SPS) for both local and international students.

The SPS serves to protect the students' fees in the event that a PEI is unable to continue operations due to insolvency and/or regulatory closure. Futhermore, the SPS protects the student if the PEI fails to pay penalties or return fees to students arising from judgements made againest it by the Singapore Courts.

International student support

For many of our overseas students their journey to Singapore to study at the School is their first time away from home and, for most, represents a major change of lifestyle. It is vitally important therefore that the School provides expert help and guidance regarding accommodation and welfare.

Student orientation day

Attend the 1-day Student Orientation Programme. During the orientation, you will meet new friends and teachers. As you start sharing expectations, anxieties and experiences, you will begin to prepare physically and emotionally for the commencement of classes.

Student activities

Learning experience should not just revolve around attaining good grades and attending lectures. Much learning takes place outside the classroom and in informal situations. Being involved in extra-curricular activities such as karaoke session, CMSM talent-time, essay writing competition and etc. is one way to balance one's education and get the most out of school life.
